Most images are for decoration while some are advertisements and/or links
For the most part you can navigate around the site, the drop down boxes still appear but with images turned off it can be hard to navigate the site.
I think that the images add to the site. It’s not a very complicated site to be on, the images catch your eye and the navigation is simple.
